چکیده

We present the first field observations of caddisfly (Trichoptera) larvae using an invasive alien aquatic plant, Crassula helmsii (Kirk) Cockayne, in case construction. In samples from invaded ponds across UK and Belgium, we have recorded presence C. fragments cases Limnephilus lunatus Curtis, Citation1834, marmoratus flavicornis (Fabricius, Citation1787) (Limnephilidae), Triaenodes bicolor (Curtis, Citation1834), Oecetis furva (Rambur, Citation1842) (Leptoceridae). Fragmentation creation augmentation may produce vegetative propagules, thus facilitating further dispersal this macrophyte.

A new Ecuadorian species of the rare Neotropical caddisfly genus Amphoropsyche Holzenthal (Trichoptera, Leptoceridae)

A new species of the rare long-horned caddisfly genus Amphoropsyche Holzenthal is described from Ecuador, bringing the number of species known from the genus to 15. All species are very regional in their distributions and known only from very few specimens. The new species, Amphoropsyche real, is similar to a number of previously described species from Colombia (Amphoropsyche ayura, Amphoropsyc...

Two new species of the rare Neotropical caddisfly genus Amphoropsyche Holzenthal (Trichoptera, Leptoceridae)

Two new species in the rare, endemic Neotropical caddisfly genus Amphoropsyche Holzenthal, 1985 are described from Ecuador (A. carchisp. n.) and Peru (A. matsigenkasp. n.) bringing to 17 the number of species known in the genus. Almost all species are known from only a few individuals and from even fewer localities. The new species belong to a group of 10 other species that have tergum X in the...

Caddisfly Larvae (Limnephilidae) As Predators of Newt (Taricha Granulosa) Eggs: Another Player in the Coevolutionary Arms Race Revolving Around Tetrodotoxin?

Some populations of the newt Taricha granulosa possess extremely highconcentrations of the neurotoxin tetrodotoxin (TTX). Tetrodotoxin is present in adult newts and their eggs, but has been assumed to be absent from the larval stage. We testedlarval and metamorphosed juveniles for the presence of TTX and evaluated thepalatability of these developmental stages to predatory dragonfly ...

Cryptic diversity of caddisflies in the Balkans: the curious case of Ecclisopteryx species (Trichoptera: Limnephilidae).

Adults and larvae of two new cryptic, endemic caddisflies, Ecclisopteryx keroveci sp.n. and Ecclisopteryx ivkae sp.n., are described and illustrated from the Western Balkans. Phylogenetic analysis (Bayesian MCMCMC) and association of different life history stages in both cryptic species were achieved through comparison of morphological characters and mitochondrial (mtCOI and mtLSU) and nuclear ...

Simultaneous measurement of uptake and elimination of cadmium by caddisfly (Trichoptera: Hydropsychidae) larvae using stable isotope tracers.

The use of stable isotopes coupled with inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry provides a unique opportunity to investigate pathways of metals in aquatic invertebrates. In this study, the simultaneous uptake and elimination of cadmium (Cd) in stream-dwelling caddisfly (Trichoptera: Hydropsychidae) larvae was measured in laboratory experiments with stable isotopes of Cd. In one experiment,...
